Sebastian Bustamante Ceja is the current Chief Justice of Associated Students. He has spent the past 4 years working in student services at several institutions of higher education. Some of his most notable positions included vice president of marketing and student success peer coach for student government at Santa Rosa Junior College as well as ASUCR Senate Intern, where he drafted and passed legislation to support underserved students, including undocumented students as well as worked with campus committees and student organizations to create

inclusive spaces and employment opportunities for students. Ceja has also served as a photojournalist/writer for the University of California, Riverside Highlander Newspaper. In addition to serving on the Associated Students board, Ceja is also a graduate teaching assistant in Cinema at San Francisco State University.

Ceja is dedicated to the Latin community. His involvement in community initiatives includes serving as founder and director for the CHISMES, a nonprofit organization that amplifies Latinx storytelling in media, literature and the arts. He volunteered with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) in Washington, D.C. where he managed Hill Day for deported veterans — coordinating training sessions and congressional meetings, while advocating for immigrant and veteran justice.

Ceja has received numerous honors and awards from the National Society of Leadership and Success, the You Belong Campaign and Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Bearcub, among others. He has also been on the Chancellor’s Honor List from 2021 – 2023. Ceja has a B.A. degree in Media and Cultural Studies from the University of California, Riverside and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Cinema from SFSU.
